ABOUT SALLY
Sally Cooper is a Registered music therapist and singer songwriter based in Queensland, Australia.
(Brisbane and the Sunshine coast).
As well as being a seasoned professional vocalist and songwriter, Sally also works with singing and the voice as a therapeutic/healing modality. She believes that our own voices possess a great potential to enhance our wellbeing. And that singing can also be used in the care of others and as a means towards joyful social connection.
Sally always had a love for music and the healing arts. She was originally trained and qualified as a registered general nurse in Brisbane. But her passion and love for music saw her career expand in new directions. After years of honing her musical skills and craft she performed as a singer in her own duo and trio across Sydney and in 5-star hotel lounge musician long term resident band contracts internationally (India, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, China, Bahrain, Doha, Tahiti, and Singapore), for over a decade.
At a later stage she ultimately felt a need to integrate her health care skills and experience with her musical skill and returned to study her Master of Music Therapy at University of Queensland. Which created a new career pathway based on a synthesis of her health care (nursing) and her musical background.
Sally has also studied vocal sound healing (Biofonia) in Varanasi, India, with Paolo Avanzo from Italy, and vocal toning with George Grant (USA) to enhance her special interest and focus on the voice as a therapeutic/healing modality.
She has worked as a registered music therapist in Brisbane since 2013. For several aged care facilities, and for private clients. Including for people with disability funded by the NDIS.
Sally also still performs as a singer songwriter either solo or with various supporting musicians.
